What Patients Say About Laura:
“She really listened to how I felt and then successfully problem solved and educated me on how I can relieve my pain at home and grow stronger, after years of being in pain”.
Laura, one of the clinic founders, is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a Board-Certified Sports Clinical Specialist, Certified Sports Physical Therapist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Graston Provider, and Certified Golf Medical and Fitness Professional with the Titleist Performance Institute.
Laura is a Certified Concussion Specialist. She works with a team of local practitioners to help in the recovery process of those who have suffered a concussion.
Laura also has a Master of Science in Motor Development from Indiana University where she studied human movement with a focus on children and women during pregnancy. She frequently incorporates this into her treatment with her younger patients. Her spouse who is a professor at Oregon State University completed his PhD in Kinesiology with a focus in motor control specific to ACL rehabilitation, so she is the “Queen of the Knee”. The office joke is that he straightened her out, because her knee was stiff after an ACL reconstruction because the therapist missed a key step in rehabilitation. As a result, she loves treating post-operative ACL injuries.
You can always expect to see Laura giving of her time to the community. She is the physical therapist for the Corvallis High School Theater Department (which is a perfect fit since she is known around the office to burst into song). She has served as the Medical Liason for the Corvallis Soccer Club. She has a personal interest in sports medicine related injuries including the shoulder, ankle and knee in youth and adult as well as sacroiliac dysfunction and instability. She has a focus in whole body, functional movement and rehabilitation and correcting dysfunction to improve sports performance and active living.
Laura is originally from San Jose, CA where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Child Development at San Jose State University in 1992. She competed in Intercollegiate Soccer at San Francisco State University, Club Soccer at California State University Northridge, and Women’s Premier Division Soccer. In her youth, she participated with the competitive California Olympic Development Program and Club Soccer. She coached Girls' Varsity Soccer at her local high school for 5 years, which included a section championship.
She was on faculty at Oregon State University “Go Beavs!” for 11 years where she was the Program Coordinator for the Pre-Therapy and Allied Health Program in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences at Oregon State University. Additionally, she served 2 years as a Volunteer Assistant Golf Coach at Oregon State University with her primary role in golf specific strength and conditioning. She can be seen on the Oregon State campus as a clinical instructor for the Pre-therapy and Athletic Training programs at Oregon State as well as a clinical instructor for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of St. Augustine Physical Therapy Programs. She responsible for the Sports Physical Therapist training program at Sport and Spine PT.
When away from Physical Therapy, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching athletic events, golfing, gardening and cooking. She has also enjoyed the adventure of a lifetime by hiking Japan with some close friends.
